We continue to raise funds, for our members, in line with Parkinson's UK policy.
If anyone has any new ideas or different venues to raise funds and awareness, please contact one of the committee.

Dinner at the Shay
Martin Uttley organised his 10th Annual Dinner /Comedy Night at the Shay in September 2019 and ended with a very sucessful fund raiser. The best yet and managed to raise in excess of £10,000. We need more help and more ideas to fundraise enough to make up for the loss of this wonderful night.
The History of The Shay Event
In a committee meeting in late 2009, it was decided to arrange a celebration to mark the 40th Anniversary of the Halifax Branch, in October 2010. Bill Uttley, husband of Elaine, was the secretary of the branch at that time, and volunteered to organise the event, to be held the following year. (October 2010). Bill got the venue booked and was making progress with the other details when tragedy struck, Bill had a fall in February 2010 and died of his injuries. Martin (his son) took over his father’s role of secretary, and at a committee meeting in summer 2010 realised that the Shay Event which Bill had booked, before his death, required some hard work to fill the venue. He asked Karen & Ian (sister/ brother) to lend a hand and between them they managed to sell enough tickets to make the event a success. Elaine, who also sat on the committee (and still does) was a very proud mum that evening – even happier when Martin announced at committee that he would arrange another dinner the following year. Martin’s family decided they were going to help and from 2011 onwards, Kerri (his wife) and children Nicole, Ryan & Chloe have all worked very hard to ensure that each year the dinner was more successful than the year before. Nine years on, Martin & Elaine are still an integral part of the branch committee.
The results for the Shay Dinner have been phenomenal. It has gone from strength to strength, but Martin needs to devote more time to his business and has decided to take a well-earned rest and says he will try and find time to do another event. We are not certain, exactly, how much Martin has raised at the Shay dinner over this period. Conservative estimates would suggest that the first 9 years events raised over £50,000. Last year was the best yet and raised just over £10,000. The committee in particular, and I am sure, all the members would like to thank Martin, Kerri & family for all the hard work they have put in over the past 10 years raising a fantastic amount of funds which has been spent by the Halifax branch improving services to members in and around Calderdale.
